2009 Rendezvous - 11-13 September 2009 In keeping with that spirit of The West, the Back
Country Horsemen of New Mexico held the 2009 Rendezvous for
September 11, 12, and 13 in the Gila Wilderness. Activities included a potluck dinner
and chili cook-off on Friday night with
a Leave No Trace (LNT) demonstration;
trail rides on Saturday and Sunday; Saturday will include a catered
dinner and campfire, geocaching competitions, mounted orienteering, and backcountry
horsemanship clinics and skills demonstrations. Cheryl
kicks things off with the standard Leave No Trace talks and
demonstrations to get everyone focused Pat discusses horsemanship issues Cheryl did her usual great job showing how to pack odd shaped tools and equipment Richard
leads a two man saw clinic A
local rancher brings a herd into the Canyon Sunny
skies and a rainbow after the Friday showers Dr. Ron Parker discusses microchipping and the Animal Identification Program
A
work project with the Forest Service involved installing a hitching
rail at the trail head of the Continental Divide Trail A job well done
