About the Jemez Chapter

The Jemez Chapter of the BCHA that was started in November of 2018. We are a working chapter that strives to maintain the wilderness and backcountry areas for equine and all other recreational uses in the Northern part of NM. Our mission coincides with the national mission to “work to ensure the public lands remain open to recreational stock use”.

Jemez Mountain areas have pristine sub alpine mountains, meadows and streams, which include the San Pedro Parks Wilderness that have several recreational trails and camping. One southwestern gem is the Valles Caldera that offers miles of grassy vegas, streams and vistas. The greater Jemez region offers several more areas that are great for stock use which include the low lands of the BLM Ojito Wilderness, the Red Rocks above Jemez Pueblo, several mesas with open ponderosa pines stands and miles upon miles of open sage and pinon juniper country.

Our meetings are every other month on the first Saturday of the month. Anyone is welcome! For more information about the chapter or to find out when our next meeting is email bchmjemez@gmail.com.
